This blog has been a long time in the making. It’s had a number of false starts; let’s hope this isn’t another one.
So let’s start at the beginning. I’m going to have a crack at describing the journey of taking an organisation from zero to (hopefully) one hundred in cloud adoption. By that I mean starting with an (essentially) 100% on-prem architecture and ending up with a mature strategy that uses cloud where it can deliver benefits, and on-prem where that make sense.
I can’t talk in detail about the organisation I’m working with, so I’m going to create a fictitious company and look at some of the key actions, decision points and challenges that are faced by more traditional organisations that can derive massive benefits from using public clouds (regardless of which vendor you choose) but can’t bring themselves to take the leap.
Next step we’ll introduce our imaginary client and look at the challenges ahead of them.
